A Community Weekend For Healing! “Gospel Meets Classical”

ext Weekend, The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and BPO Diversity Council join with the 36th annual Gospel Fest, coordinated by Bessie Patterson, to host two free events in the spirit of providing comfort and hope to the families and all those affected by the May 14, shooting tragedy in the Buffalo community.

On Saturday in MLK Park, the traditional ALL GOSPEL event will be held from 2 pm. till 9pm.Featured will be national recording artist Carrington Gaines along with some of Buffalo’s best including, Lady Kathy Bowman, Wynetta McElveen, Kimera Latimore, Damarka Wheeler, Moe Badger, Robin Adams, AngelVox, Pastor Craig Cauley & Chosen Fellowship Church of Niagara Falls N.Y., Delivered, Marchon Hamilton, Lindsay Niccs, Miquel-Haniffa Solier & Destiny Church, Bessie Patterson & The Citywide Choir and many more!

On Sunday, July 24, A Concert For Healing will take place at the Johnnie B. Wiley Sports Pavilion at 4p.m. featuring the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and the dynamic Pastor and First Lady of Macedonia Baptist Church, Sirgourney Cook and Rev. Julian Cook conducted by Maestro JoAnn Falletta along with Assistant Conductor Jaman E. Dunn. Rev. Cook is a classically trained baritone vocalist whose gifts have afforded him a number of opportunities, including performing for notable figures like Rev. Jesse L. Jackson and Congressman John Lewis. First Lady Sirgourney Cook was the featured soloist in Duke Ellington’s “Concerts of Sacred Music” conducted by Ellington’s protégé, Maestro Randall Keith Horton, at Boston University’s 2017 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Commemoration.
