The Brian Flores lawsuit saga has been a trending topic that has exploited issues like the Rooney Rule and unnerving practices of NFL owners along with the relationships between coaches and ownership. While Brian Flores might be suing the NFL and three teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers announced that they hired Brian Flores to be the defensive assistant and linebackers coach on Saturday. Brian Flores, for the last three seasons had been the Miami Dolphins head coach and seemed to be building an organization that had promise. In his last two seasons, Brian Flores tallied a 10-6 record in 2020 and a 9-8 in 2021 but was unceremoniously fired due to culture issues within the organization. The owner Stephen Ross wanted to tank games and Flores wanted to win them. What a great reason to be fired. Just another despicable example of doing your job and being devalued. Congratulations to the Pittsburgh Steelers for having some integrity and hiring Brian Flores but the saga continues as the sports world is still in limbo on the hiring practices that the NFL has in place along with the uncertainty of Stephen Ross’s ownership tactics.
“Juwan A Man”
The Michigan Wolverines head coach Juwan Howard is being heavily scrutinized this week after the Michigan Wolverines 77-63 lost to the then 15th Wisconsin Badgers. The scrutiny came after juwan Howard struck Wisconsin assistant coach Joe Krabbenhoft in the face during the postgame handshake line between the two teams. But as you know of course there’s more to the story. With 15 seconds left in the game and the Badgers being up 15, coach Greg Gard decided to call a timeout which incited anger from coach Howard. During the handshake line, Juwan Howard was in no mood to shake Greg Gard’s hand and the Wisconsin coach grabbed Juwan Howard which caused him to be even more upset. Videos surfaced from the incident and you can hear Juwan say “I will remember that”. He would also in the video tell Greg Hard “Don’t put your hands on me”. Some vulgarity was used by both coaches and somehow the assistant coach Joe Krabbenhoft interjected his self and the rest is history. It is currently unknown what was said but as it stands now Juwan Howard has been suspended for the rest of the regular season and fined $40,000. The Wisconsin coach Greg Gard was fined only $10,000 with no suspension. For more news on this story, Rise Up Right will keep you posted as the story continues to unfold.
Buffalo Sabres News
The Buffalo Sabres were on the two-game winning streak during the last article written but since then the team has acquired a three-game losing streak. The Buffalo Sabres before the losing streak had just won only its second game on home ice since Thanksgiving. The Ottawa Senators outplayed the Sabres to a 3-1 victory last Thursday. On last Saturday, the Colorado Avalanche would come to KeyBank Center and leave with a 5-3 victory. The Columbus Blue Jackets would also add insult to injury as they would dismantle the Sabres 7-3 in Columbus last Sunday. With the trade deadline coming up and the Sabres dealing with a multitude of injuries, Will the Sabres organization make some moves to add talent to the current roster? Only Kevyn Adams, the Sabres general manager knows that right.
