Gov. Kathy Hochul recently named Judge Shirley Troutman to a vacancy on New York’s highest court – the Court of Appeals. Judge Troutman is currently serving on the Rochester-based Appellate Division of State Supreme court.
When confirmed by the State Senate she will be only the second Black woman to serve on the high court. Troutman has more than three decades experience as a judge.
She began her judicial career when she was elected to Buffalo City Court in 1994
