The Bills defeated a shorthanded Carolina Panthers football team with a strong passing attack along with a solid running game.
Bills offensive line continues to improve with good run blocking on a depleted Panthers defensive front. I still think it’s a good idea not to call Bills QB Josh Allen’s number in running situations. Bills have plenty of quality running backs with Devin Singletary, Zack Moss and Matt Brieda all can carry a rushing load. I would work on getting the ball in space to Matt Breida and Isaiah McKenzie; These two players are game breakers, who can score from anywhere on the field once given space to work within. Bills wide receiver Gabriel Davis is quickly becoming a clutch option for Josh Allen. I said last week that Josh Allen should have been looking for Davis on that possible go ahead play against The Buccaneers.
Davis is a match up nightmare for opponents and was beating his man all game. He did the same thing this week being a mismatch and should become a very valuable asset down the road. Josh Allen was 19-34 for 310 yards 1 TD and one interception.
The biggest offensive numbers belong to Devin Singletary rushing for 86 yards on 22 carries and 1 TD. Singletary stats are the key to Bills making the playoffs and being a strong contender to make the Super Bowl. Bills will also need important contributions inn the run game from Zack Moss and matt Breida in the upcoming stretch drive.
Bills defense continues to make key plays when needed and the additions of Efe Obada and Boogie Basham has added much needed strength and power to the defensive unit. Obada can not only play defensive tackle but is quick enough to be an Edge Rusher on various assignments. He’s turning into the best pick up from The Carolina Panthers by Bills General Manager Brandon Beane has ever made to this point.
Hopefully Obada will have even better games against opponents other than The Panthers. Ed Oliver continues to improve his play and working really hard at getting pressures on QB, and assisting in stopping the run. Harrison Phillips has really stepped his game up and continuing to be best Bills defensive lineman on the field each week. Hopefully his surgically repaired knees will hold up the rest of the season. He’s had at least two surgeries on each knee and is playing more snaps than ever before; Bills defensive back Dane Jackson is also making a name for himself with his stellar coverage of opposing receivers.
The Bills secondary is one of the best in the league led by Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer, who I think are the best tandem Safeties in the NFL. I see Bills beating the New England Patriots next week mainly because Bills are the better team. They just have to play like it and stop Patriots running game forcing them to expose QB Mac Jones underachieving passing game, which will generate turnovers by the defensive unit. I see Bills winning a tough hard-fought contest 24 – 17.
