Today India Walton, Democratic Nominee for Buffalo Mayor, announced that she is on-boarding Drisana Hughes to the role of Campaign Manager to oversee the final six weeks of the race.
“I am thrilled to welcome Drisana Huges to Team India,” said Walton. “Her wealth of experience in Democratic campaigning, her deep understanding of political organizing, and her shining intelligence are exactly what this campaign needs to win in November with a strong mandate to build the safe, healthy Buffalo we all need and deserve.”
Earlier this year, Hughes served as the Deputy Campaign Manager for Alvin Bragg’s successful campaign to become Manhattan’s presumptive District Attorney-elect, and as the organizing director for the mayoral campaign of New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer. In 2020, she served as Regional Field Director for the Colorado Democratic Party, helping to secure Joe Biden’s win there — the most commanding Democratic victory since 1964. Prior to that, Hughes served as the Senior Program Director at Civics Unplugged.
“I’m excited to hit the ground running on the Walton campaign,” Hughes said. “Like so many in Buffalo and around the country, I have been inspired by India Walton’s resilience, courage, eloquence, and bold vision for true public safety and healthy communities. I’m honored to be able to help get the campaign’s message out to working Buffalonians who are tired of the corrupt status quo, and ready for change.”
The campaign announced that Hughes’ new role was part of a broader staff reorganization that will see several other staff members adopting new titles and responsibilities.
