There have been overwhelming reviews about the eye opening feel good this original “women in country music” musical revue presents. The Revue features songs and stories of some of the pioneering women in country music  such as Linda Martell (the very first female African American country star) and Tammy Wynette to the female artists of today like Mickey Guyton (first black woman to be nominated for best solo performance by a country artist) and Brandi Carlile.

From Honky Tonk to Protest: A Woman’s View of Country Music features a full country band on stage featuring vocalist Annette Daniels Taylor. (pictured above) Taylor is a storyteller, actor, writer, poet, vocalist, and filmmaker. She’s performed, screened and exhibited work internationally from the Yukon to Brazil. Nationally from Miami to Niagara Falls. She will be performing the music of such artists as Rhiannon Giddens, Linda Martell, Mickey Guyton and others. Honky Tonk will mark Annette’s debut appearance on the Kavinoky stage.

This new musical revue is part concert, part musical history lesson and looks at the stories and struggles of these amazing women as well as how your home town can shape your life.
