THE GREAT DEBATE: from left, Jaz Miles, Byron Brown and India Walton
During the Democratic Mayoral Primary, Byron Brown refused to debate candidate India Walton, smugly chiding what he called her “lack of understanding of the role as mayor.” Accepting her challenge to debate he told the News, would be to “ ignore his responsibility to run New York’s second largest city.” In other words, he had better things to do.
What a difference an election makes.
Two months after losing to Walton – who won a stunning Primary upset victory – Brown who barely even campaigned – has now found the time to debate.
On Thursday, September 9, India Walton, the Democratic nominee for Mayor, will face Brown and Jaz Miles, both write-in candidates, in an event hosted by the Buffalo Association of Black Journalists and WUFO Radio Power 96.5 on Sept. 9 at the Merriweather Library on Jefferson Avenue at 7 p.m.
Walton will be the only candidate on the ballot on Nov. 2. Neither the Republican Party nor any other party is running a candidate.
The event is free, but space is limited.
The debate will also be aired live on WUFO Radio and WIVB-TV channel 4
