Amirah Muhammad Awarded Full Violin Scholarship to Prestigious Arts Conservatory

After completing her scholarship program with Alvin Ailey Amercan Dance Theatre in New York City, pre-professional ballerina and concert violinist, Amirah Hashimah Muhammad, is now headed to the prestigious Chicago Conservatory of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University in Illinois on a full violin scholarship. She will be enrolling as an honors student in their Bachelor’s of Fine Arts Degree Program, majoring in violin performance.

Amirah will be performing at the Muhammad School of Music’s 22nd Annual Celebration of Youth Summer Recital  Wednesday, August 18 at 6:30 p.m. at Lincoln Memorial United Methodist Church,641 Masten Avenue (on the corners of Northland, and Main Street).

Amirah Muhammad began her violin studies just under the age of two with her father and founder of Muhammad School of Music (MSOM) Henri Star Muhammad. In addition to Maestro Henri Star, Amirah has worked with such distinguished faculty as Lazara Nelson, Dr. Ayke Agus, Grammy nominated concert violinist Kelly Hall Tompkins, and Dr. Anyango Yarborough Davenport at the Eastman School of Music.

 “I am very excited to embark on this next endeavor. I am honored to be part of such a distinguished university and program, and I look forward to learning all I can to bring back to our community!” she said.

Amirah is currently fundraising to cover the costs of room and board, and other college expenses.
