Winners on the Front Line For Positive Change

From left: Myles Carter, Dominique Calhoun, Joel Moore

Activists Myles Carter, who ran  county-wide for sheriff  and Dominique Calhoun, who threw her hat in the ring for   1st District County Legislator, did not win their respective Primary races on Tuesday. Conscientious young attorney  Joel Moore, who after being  knocked off the ballot  in his quest for a city court judgeship, was not even given the opportunity to run in the Primary.Attorney Moore, a Democrat,  will appear on the Conservative Line in November).

But all three are winners in their own right.

Myles said it best after the election: “We win no matter what, the issues and solutions facing our community are now mainstream. We will continue the fight for justice and accountability.”

These bright young political newcomers,  and community   activists,   took their  push for change beyond the marches and demonstrations  and decided to go for the chance to get into the system to  effectuate real  change.

We’d like to congratulate them for stepping to the plate, speaking truth to power, and bringing issues  to the light – which without their advocacy would  remain in the dark.

They  deserve our  respect and support! Onward Ever! Backwards Never!
