Buffalo’s Own Roderick Bonner III: Profile of an Etraordinary Young Musician!

Roderick Bonner III is one of the most talented musicians Buffalo has produced. 

A few Sundays ago  the world class keyboardist/engineer/ producer performed on the Grammy Awards, backing up chart-topping artist  Doja Cat. 

Prior to that, on April 14th  he joined the GCR Audio Staff which is owned by the GOO GOO Dolls.  He is also a part of the new band for Cami Clum, a contestant which appeared on the VOICE.  Locally they recently   played   at Salvatore’s in the Bellmore Ballroom.  

In addition, he has been playing Live Jazz at the Seneca One during lunch hour for the past two Friday’s from 11:30 to 2:00 pm with VinDe Rosa.  He also  played talk box with Doobie Powell on his gospel album  song “Doing Great Things.  

Roderick has toured with Grammy nominated Najee as keyboardist and Musical Director for the past 11 years.  

He is a graduate of  Buffalo  City Honors and the world renowned  Berklee School of Music in Boston, Mass. with a degree in Music Business. 

Roderick began playing drums at age of 2.  He attended the Elmwood School of Music,   Music City on Main Street, and  Illios with Douglas (Trigger) Gaston. He also took lessons and played in a band with the legendary James “Pappy”  Marin School of Music.  Roderick plays Bass Guitar, Guitar, Piano. Organ and Drums.  He has played throughout the City of Buffalo with many bands at a variety of venues and is well versed in Gospel, Jazz, Hard Rock,  Classical, etc.

He has played on cruise ships, played for and toured with Will Downing,   Alex Bugon, Stanley Jordan, Ruben Studdard, Phil Perry, Maysa, Alexis Speight,  and more. The  list of artist he has met is endless.

Last but not least,  Roderick is a Church Musician. He began playing for his church Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 55 Grape Street under the leadership of  the late Rev. Herbert V. Reid.  He currently plays for Friendship Baptist Church 402 Clinton Street, where  Rev. Edward Jackson, Jr. is the pastor.   He has played for True Bethel of which he is currently a member.

He is the son of  proud mom  Lorraine Bonner of Buffalo NY.
