Feeding the Needy on Buffalo’s East Side
Pictured Above : Community Fridge: George “JJ” Johnson, community organizer, stops by to leave fresh fruit and pastries at the “Community Fridge” in front of the former GiGi’s Restaurant on E.Ferry near Jefferson. It’s location is fitting. Gigi’s was the “soul food hub” and Blondine Harvin, it’s beloved owner, fed her share of hungry folks – whether they had money or not – over the years. Described as “simply a fridge filled with free food for the community by the community,” stop by and leave a donation any time! Let’s keep the Fridge full! IT’S NICE 2B NICE: A big shout out to Dave, the manager of Top’s Market on Jefferson Avenue, for honoring my request of a donation of fifty 25-pound turkeys, to help some families who are going through hard times as a result of COVID-19! Special thanks also to Sheila Brown CEO WUFO 1080 AM/Power 96.5 FM for putting the word out over the airways. The turnout was great and the people really appreciated it! It’s Nice 2B Nice !- Samuel A. Herbert
Turkey Giveaway: G-Health staff members work to prepare some 750 turkeys and food bags for residents during the Thanksgiving season. What a blessing!
