Buffalo Bills defense continues to get strong each week with key takeaways from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Bills cornerback Levi Wallace plays hard every week and was rewarded with an Interception. Bills defensive back Taron Johnson second quarter 51-yard interception for a touchdown turned the tide in Buffalo’s favor.
Bills defense seemed to step their game up especially middle linebacker Tremaine Edmunds getting in on some key plays in stopping Steelers running game. Bills Safety Jordan Poyer led defense in tackles last night. I still have not seen Mario Addison, if you have seen him please email his where abouts as soon as possible.
It’s a shame Bills highest paid free agents Mario Addison, Trent Murphy, Tyler Kroft, and Josh Norman have given the Bills very little in production. Hopefully they can make some big plays for the team down the stretch and into the playoffs.
It’s a mystery to why Trent Murphy is back on the team this year after giving the team absolutely nothing last season. His 6-million-dollar salary could have been given to somebody more deserving by his play like Matt Milano. Bills General Manager Brandon Beane, who recently received a contract extension will no doubt be looking for a quality tight end and some offensive linemen.
Yes, speaking of offense Josh Allen has matured a lot quicker than I or even the Bills might have expected. I see a key influencer of Josh Allen being Stefon Diggs, who continues to coach Josh up during the game. If you notice on the Bills sideline Stefon Diggs is always in Allen’s face giving instruction and coaching him up. Allen did not panic after a slow start and let the game come to him with key receptions by Diggs. Allen trust Diggs analysis of what coverage is being used by their opponents, and how best to attack them.
The Stefon Diggs trade is turning out to be the most important part of the Josh Allen growth along with his throwing motion and techniques by quarterback Coach Ken Dorsey. Allen’s touchdown pass to Gabriel Davis was a perfect example of his growth with a pump fake and then firing a strike in the back corner of the end-zone that Davis made while keeping his feet inbounds.
Bills safety Micah Hyde said, “We made Steelers a one-dimensional team by stopping the run and they did score and make a two-point conversion on us so we felt we had to take control of the situation”. “We wanted to create different looks and force Big Ben into difficult throws.” Bills all pro cornerback Tre Davis White said, “Our Coaches allow us input into various coverages because we can see things differently on the field than they can from the sidelines; It’s a mixture of both and Coaches do a great job of communicating.” “Our offense was able to close out the game and that was a big sign that our team is coming together.”
Yes, all aspects of Bills game are starting to come together and stopping the run by their opponents will be critical in determining how far this team goes in the playoffs. Bills making playoffs 3 out of 4 years is an outstanding achievement that must be celebrated, but now it’s time to elevate to the next level.
Bills travel to Denver Colorado to face the Broncos on Saturday afternoon; Another primetime game and Bills should be able to disguise their coverages and force Broncos QB Drew Luck into bad throws resulting in turnovers. Bills will win 24 – 17.
Bills face new England Patriots on Monday night football and an ugly defensive struggle will allow Bills to win 14 -12.
Bills close out the season against Miami Dolphins and once again bills defense will force Miami Dolphins rookie QB Tua Tagovailoa into turnovers by disguising the coverage resulting in a Bills 28 – 17 wins.
