This game was everything I thought it would be and more. It showed up the Bills flaws as well as the improvements made in 2020.Josh Allen showed poise in the final drive to lead them to a 30 – 26 advantage. Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs has made Josh Allen a much better QB with precise route running which forces Allen to be more accurate with the football. Josh is a work in progress, who must calm down with the pressure on and continue to not turn the football over.
DeAndre Hopkins showed everyone why he is the best wide receiver in the game today. He has the biggest hands I’ve ever seen on a receiver and he’s such a clutch player, who continues to show how stupid Bill O’Brien was for trading him. Hopkins catch will probably be the catch of the year while his trade from Houston to Arizona will be the worst in NFL history.
Cardinals all pro defensive back Patrick Peters had one interception but really should have had three on some very poorly thrown passes by Josh Allen. The Bills need a consistent running game in order to help Allen out and once again Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll went away from the run as Zack Moss seemed to be just getting warmed up finishing with 7 rushes for 20 yards. That’s terrible play calling especially with two more defensive linemen injured who did not return to the game for the Arizona Cardinals. They were already missing their best defensive linemen Chandler Jones and Jordan Phillips. Daboll should have run a no huddle offense with a combination of runs and passes to tire out the Cardinals defensive front. That was another Coaching error by Daboll, who seems to have trouble with calling positive plays in the third quarter. He has been awful all season long in the third quarter, when our opponents have made adjustments to his gadget play calling in the first quarter.
The Bills defensive end Jerry Hughes: “Yes, Kyler Murray was everything we saw on film of him especially his change of direction how quick he is and then some, those 17 points we gave up… got to figure out a way to do better. Coach Frazier loves to get after young quarterbacks and get after QB’s period, we forced them into making mistakes and we got to get off the field.”
Yes, during the Bills bye week it’s critical that Head Coach Sean McDermott and General Manager Brandon Beane pick up a run stuffing nose guard – roughly a 350 pounder is needed to take on two offensive linemen which will allow other linemen and especially Tremaine Edmunds to make more plays at the line of scrimmage.
Bills safety Micah Hyde said regarding the loss: “Coming off a loss like that, it’s hard to see the bright side right now. I know that this group of guys is resilient. We’re going to rally around each other.”
The Bills must become resilient starting with a home game against the LA Chargers after the bye week. I see Bills bouncing back after such a heartbreaking loss in the desert to beat the Chargers 24 – 20. Hopefully our kicker Tyler Bass will be able to make routine 30 to 40-yard kicks as the weather gets bad. He became only the second kicker in NFL history to make three field goals of at least 54 yards or more. Congrats to him and Happy Thanksgiving to our readership!
