Wisconsin Police Shooting Leaves Unarmed Black Man Paralyzed From the Waist Down

At one point during the press conference  the father of Jacob Blake was overcome with grief.

But when he was able to speak, his words were measured and to the point. Declaring to the world that his son –   Jacob Blake Jr. who  was shot 7 times in the back at point blank range by police, was  treated less than a human.  “My son matters. He’s a human being and he matters!”

Protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin, took to the streets to vent their anger over the shooting of Jacob Blake  in the back multiple times   by police, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. Buildings and cars were set on fire and the city was placed under a state of emergency Monday amid a fresh wave of anti-police brutality and racial injustice protests.Blake, a 29-year-old father, was shot as he tried to enter his vehicle. Blake’s three young children were in the car when he was shot, the attorney representing his family said. Blake was still  in intensive care at press time. Jacob’s father said that his son had “eight holes” in his body. Doctors said they do not know if the younger Blake’s paralysis will be permanent. It’s a miracle they say, that he did not die.

Two Wisconsin police officers have been put on administrative leave as authorities investigate. The shooting comes as protesters continue to decry police violence on US streets after the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. (pictured above Jacob and his three sons)
