Council Votes to Rename A Street “Black Lives Matter”
Billboard on E. Ferry and Fillmore proclaims “Black Lives Matter.”
On Tuesday the Common Council unanimously approved a resolution by Council President Darius Pridgen to name a street in Buffalo”Black Lives Matter.” Now a street has to be chosen.
Council President Pridgen was prompted to propose the street name change after receiving a letter from a 17-year-old high school student asking if he could paint Black Lives Matter onto a street in the city.
Community activist and former County Legislator Betty Jean Grant and We Are Women Warriors are lobbying to have E. Ferry Street designated Black Lives Matter Blvd. No decision has yet been made.
