The Buffalo Educational Opportunity Center is hosting its annual men’s Conference on Saturday, February 29 from 10 a.m.to 1:30p.m. at their 555 Ellicott Street campus.
The focus of this conference is “Men Leading By Example” and it will take a hard look at the role that men of our community play in leading their families, mentoring young men away from dangerous decision making, and the impact that violent injury and trauma have on our young men and the rest of our community. In addition, the gathering will unpack the clinical mental health issues that men face that can impact their ability to engage in a leadership capacity.
The conference will feature a panel of subject experts who will share their knowledge, elevate the discussion and engage our community around these very critical issues.
Among them will be Justice Craig Hannah, Chief Judge in Buffalo City Court; Antoine Johnson, Fatherhood Coordinator, Buffalo Prenatal-Perinatal; Larry Donaldson, Pastor of Greater Works Christian Fellowship; Dr. Christopher St. Vil, Assistant Professor University at Buffalo; Karl Shallowhorn, Education Coordinator at Community Health; and Dr. Darren Brown, Chief of Staff Buffalo public Schools.
The conference welcomes community advocates, service providers, professionals and all men from the WNY community to be a part of this event to discuss and share their ideas and concerns regarding the leadership role of men in our community.
The conference is free and open to the public. Register online at www.buffalo.edu/eoc click “Register for Events.” Lunch will be provided. For more info call (716) 645-1942.
