On Friday, January 17, 2020; Tyrell Mitchell of the Bryant & Stratton Bobcats was able join the 1000 point club as a college basketball player.
Mitchell recalls that this was an unreal achievement that he worked very
hard for as he stated “I Never got a 1000 points in high school. I only played one year though, I had like 600 points.
“Needing 32 points to make the club prior to this game. He was only able to score 12. But with 20 being the lucky number last Friday and going away for the next contest Mitchell wanted to attain this accomplishment in front of family and friends. And that he did in SportsCenter, top 10 fashion. On a fast break Tyrell was able to throw the ball off the backboard and dunk his way into the record books with an extra long hang on the rim to savor it., securing a huge 99-57 home win for the Bryant & Stratton Buffalo Bobcats over the Mercyhurst North East Saints inside the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center.
When asked how far he wants to take basketball? He said he would like to play professionally overseas and if that doesn’t happen he would like to open a center for kids because that’s what kept him off the streets.
Tyrell is the son of Phyllis Mitchell of Buffalo and David Johnson of New York City. Congratulations Tyrell!
