The State Director of AARP visited Buffalo last Wednesday to open the fifth outdoor fitness park in the nation sponsored by the advocacy group for older Americans. The outdoor fitness park is located in Horace “Billy” Johnson Park in the Hamlin Park section of Masten District at Hager and Florida streets on Buffalo’s East Side
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to open this outdoor fitness park, right here in Buffalo,” stated Director Beth Finkel .
AARP plans to sponsor a fitness park in every state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands to commemorate the association’s 60th anniversary. The installation at Hamlin Park will be the only one of its kind in NYS.
The new upgrades to the park include Fit Lot exercise equipment that can be adapted to meet wide range of fitness levels and abilities there is also space for group exercise.
FitLot is a nonprofit organization devoted to creating outdoor fitness.
