The City’s Department of Recreation and Youth Services will host six youth development basketball camps for young people between the ages of 9 and 17.
The Glenn Hagan Basketball Skills Clinic will take place at select R-Centers throughout the city. At each of the one-week basketball camps, former professional basketball player Glenn Hagan will provide basic basketball instruction and guidance, covering topics such as offense/defense skills, team play and sportsmanship.
A native of Rochester, Hagan graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School and St. Bonaventure University. After playing briefly in the NBA for the Detroit Pistons, Hagan played for the Continental Basketball Association’s Rochester Zeniths in the early 1980s, where he was an all-star guard and led the franchise to two CBA championships. He now trains youth all over Rochester and in other cities, teaching them the value of basketball and sharing his stories about life in the NBA.
The six weekly Glenn Hagan Basketball Skills Clinics will take place at the following R-Centers:
•Avenue D R-Center: July 15 – 19, 2019
•Frederick Douglass R-Center: July 22 – 26, 2019
•Flint St. R-Center: July 29 – Aug. 2, 2019
•Gantt R-Center: Aug. 5 – 9, 2019
•Carter St. R-Center: Aug. 12 – 16, 2019

The first session will take place from 1 – 2:30 p.m. for ages 9 through 12, with a second session held from 2:30 – 4 p.m. for ages 13 through 17. In addition, participants will attend forty-five minute workshops that will be scheduled opposite their designated time slots.
