Buffalo Bills: Training Camp Opening In Transitional Mode

– The Radney Report

Buffalo Bills 2019 training camp is on and popping with a lot of new faces and plenty of competition for positions on the team.

My early observations of training camp saw rookie offensive tackle Cody Ford possibly moving inside to a guard position along with Dion Dawkins. Could both benefit each player and the team in the long run? Especially Dawkins with his athletic ability and quick feet being able to lead a power sweep on running plays around the edge. I would have the  rest of tackles fight it out for the starting and back up positions.

I like offensive coordinator Brian Daboll coming right out and working situational plays like goal line, red zone, and third down.  Daboll has Bills QB Josh Allen getting rid of ball in a three step drop and throwing ball away if a receiver is not open.

The Bills are making a concerted effort of getting Josh Allen to stand in pocket and not run but get rid of ball in a timely fashion.

Bills receivers are small in size. They  remind  me of The Smurf’s of the 80’s & 90’s. They are shifty, fast and can stop on a dime and change direction. Bills receiver Cole Beasley said, “Guys like us can get separation and it’s an NFL trend of having more speedy smaller receivers.”

You will have more room for error once guys get separation and allow the  QB more room to complete the pass. “I feel great out here and a matter of getting the rust off with more repetitions and will come with time,” Bills rookie QB Tyree Jackson said. “I’m learning our coaches are very attentive to details; you have to improve each day and our QB room is good with Matt Barkley and Josh Allen helping me.”

“Just your work ethic is very important and I must control the things I can control along with doing the small things right with improving each day.”

Yes, Tyreek Jackson has plenty of upside and I can’t wait to see him play at the NFL level.

I will be taking a closer look at  the Bills defense and an early observation is coming in  next week editions. Follow me on twitter:
