The largest free festival of its kind in North America, welcomes spring to Upstate NY with 10 incredible days and nights of non-stop festivities during the 2019 Rochester Lilac Festival May 10-19 from 10:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. daily in Highland Park. Here are just some of the hot headliners who will perform free during the event! Stop by and smell the lilacs, taste the food and enjoy the huge range of entertainment!
Monday, May 13
The main show at 7 p.m. is BB King’s Blues Band featuring Michael Lee (of NBC’s The Voice), part of a tour to perform the songs of BB King, with some remaining members of his band.
But the music starts that morning: at 10:30 a.m. with Harris Hill 5th Dimension, followed by Creekside Steel Drum Band at 11 a.m., and Pittsford Mendon High School Choir at noon. Then it’s The Buddhahood at 4 p.m.
At 5:30 p.m., another Rochester favorite, Danielle Ponder and the Tomorrow People, brings its groove and soul to the festival. The group has opened for George Clinton, Ledisi and The Roots and has gotten audiences moving at the Rochester International Jazz Festival.
Tuesday, May 14
At 7 p.m., Julian Marley, the son of reggae legend Bob Marley and Barbados-born Lucy Pounder, takes the stage. His newest album came out in 2018.
Thursday, May 16
At 7 p.m., hear saxophonist Maceo Parker and his band bring their legacy of soul and funk music. Parker has collaborated alongside the likes of James Brown, George Clinton and Prince.
At 4 p.m., it’s Vanishing Sun; Corey Wong follows at 5:30 p.m. Rochester City School District “Bloomin Arts” concerts are scheduled at 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m.
