Let’s Jump Into This Weeks Highlights  in Baseball , Hockey & College Football

Buffalo Bisons

After another season of up’s and down’s, the Bisons will have a new name to their baseball field in 2019. The new name for the Bisons field is……that’s right Sahlen Field. This will mark the franchise’s fifth name change since 1988. Originally in 1988, the stadium was caled Pilot Field. This name was motivated by the pilot air flight of Philadelphia. A couple years after it was simply named The Downtown Ballpark. NorthAmeriCare Park came shortly after to give the field’s name some spice. In 2008, Coca Cola Bottling Company brought the rights to field and until yesterday carried the stadium’s name. The company will still be in affiliation with the Bisons but the new name in 2019 will be Sahlen Field. Do you like the new name of the Bisons stadium?

Buffalo Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres started the season at home against the Boston Bruins. The atmosphere explained why this city is “Hockey Town USA”. This team is young and fresh but sprinkled with some veteran leadership from guys like Jason Pominville and Jeff Skinner. The Sabres definitely showed there young tendencies and the Bruins took advantage by winning the home opener 4-0. On Saturday night against the Rangers, after an article was released about the fans getting impatient with the Sabres losing culture, Buffalo came out with alot of passion and grit as they got two goals from Conor Sheary a former Pittsburgh Penguin and an empty netter from Jack Eichel who had 2 points in this game. The Sabres definitely fought for a hard earned 3-1 victory over Henrik Lundqvist and the New York Rangers. The Sabres on Monday found themselves in a great position to gain a better than .500 record for the first time since 2013. With that motivation hanging in the balance the Sabres scored 3 goals on 3 shots in the second period within 5 minutes as they went on to defeat the Golden Knights 4-2. Jack Eichel scored two goals, Jason Pominville added a goal as well and Carter Hutton made 35 saves after his 43 save performance against the Rangers. The Sabres will face the Colorado Avalanche tonight at Key Bank Center.

UB Bulls Football

The UB Bulls football team got back to their winning ways as they ran over the Central Michigan Chippewas 34-24. Kevin Marks and Jaret Patterson ran for 167 and 121 respectively with a touchdown run apiece. Tyree Jackson didnt have to air the ball out much this week and the defense played a great first half as the Bulls led 17-3 after two quarters. The Bulls will look to improve to 5-1 on Saturday as they play the Akron Zips at home. Will the UB Bulls win this game on Saturday?
