Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul has endorsed Erie County Clerk candidate Angela Marinucci, urging voters to support Marinucci’s vision for a clerk’s office dedicated to public service and free of party politics.
Hochul also said that Marinucci’s campaign has highlighted the fact that in a community of nearly 1 million people, there are currently no women in county-wide office.
“As someone who was proud to serve as Erie County Clerk myself, I know Angela is running for all the right reasons,” said Hochul, who held the clerk’s post from 2007 until she was elected to Congress in 2011.
“For Angela, this isn’t about simply having a title or using the office as a platform for divisive partisan politics,” Hochul said. “This is about solving problems and putting a critically important organization back on track so that it truly meets the needs of the thousands of people who depend upon its services every day.
Marinucci, an attorney who lives on Grand Island with her husband and three children, said she is proud to have Hochul’s endorsement.
“I’m excited about the chance to bring my small business background to the task of making the clerk’s office efficient and cost-effective at every level.
“This is an office that truly needs to put people first and beginning January 1 it will.”
“We could not be prouder to have Angela headline our allwoman county-wide slate, especially at this moment when women here and around the country are answering the call to elected office in record numbers,” said Democratic County Chairman Jeremy J. Zellner. “She is part of the new generation of leadership that is helping reshape and redefine our party, and she will bring fresh ideas and solutions to the clerk’s office.”
