The 12th Annual Sankofa Theatre Festival, showcasing original works of emerging and established African American playwrights, is Aug. 21 to 31 at the Multi-use Community Cultural Center (MuCCC), 142 Atlantic Ave. in Rochester’s Neighborhood of the Arts.
During the opening week, The Green Book Chronicles II: Welcome to the Lilly by Karen Culley is the main play from 7:30 p.m. Aug. 21 to 24. There is also a 2 p.m. matinee Aug. 24 with an audience talk-back afterwards that includes the playwright, director and cast.
At 7:30 p.m. Aug. 28 and 29 there’s Night of 10s, featuring ten-minute plays. And at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 30 and 31 is RED – That Other Color Girl by Grace Flores.
