Harlem Nights Event in Honor of Gwen Curry, “The Grant Lady”

Tabernacle Charities Inc. will present a “Roaring 20’s Harlem Nights Celebration”  Black Tie fundraiser dinner in honor of Gwen Curry “The Grant Lady,” on Friday, May 3 at 5 p.m. at the  Statler City Golden Ballroom, 107 Delaware Avenue.

Ms. Curry, who has extensive experience in the field of grant writing ,  is a graduate of Canisius College with a BA in accounting. She  was also  educated in grants management and evaluation at the Research Associates and The Grantsmanship Center. She has written and received grants since 1999 for several agencies in the United States and Africa and  designed ten Summer Success Camps over a 25-year period.  Ms. Curry  formerly served as the principal grant writer /program developer and Executive Director for Present Day Cares, Inc. in Charlotte North Carolina for 20 years where the firm averaged $750,000   per year in federal, state and foundation funding .

Well known locally as  “The Grant Lady,” she is widely respected  and sought after for her expertise and is currently self-employed as a grant writer, grant writing teacher and consultant. She has trained over 200 grant writers and written over 100 grants and frequently shares her vast knowledge of grant writing and fund raising ideas with workshops throughout the community.
