Long-Time Employee Darley Willis Retires

Ms. Darley Willis has announced her retirement from Erie Community College after more than 26 years of employment at the college. In her most recent role, Ms. Willis served as the Associate Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer.

Previous roles included Director of Human Resources from 1991-2008 and Director of Equity & Diversity from 2008-2017. As the Director of Human Resources, Ms.Willis was responsible among other things, for investigating and resolving employee discrimination complaints; engaged in the enforcement of Equal Employment Opportunity Laws and regulations; and was the college’s representative for union contract negotiations.

In her role as the Director of Equity & Diversity, Ms. Willis coordinated and administered the College’s Equity & Diversity Plan and maintained data on the composition of the college’s workforce in compliance with the Civil Rights of 1964. She was also responsible for the coordination of activities concerning college employment for women and minorities, including monitoring the college’s demographics and application process to ensure equal employment opportunities for qualified job applicants, regardless of their minority status or gender.

“I am most proud of working as a member of senior executive staff to build a more inclusive and diverse college,” Ms. Willis said. “Earning the respect of my colleagues and our students was the highlight of my career. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have made such a meaningful difference in the lives of so many people throughout my time at the College.” Ms. Willis earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and a Master’s Degree in Higher Education and Leadership from the University of Buffalo. She was also a certified Title IX coordinator and received her certification in labor contract negotiations.
