Rise Up Right

I want to thank every body for rising up right with me this week. Let’s get right into the highlights.

Buffalo Bills News

The fall season usually starts around September 21st of every year. But after this past Sunday, I am convinced now that the fall season has come in three weeks early as we watched the Bills had one of the worst preseason games in a long time. Before the game started , Andy Dalton was given a standing ovation for his role in helping the Bills end their playoff drought of 17 seasons. After the act of kindness, Dalton torched the Bills secondary on the first play of the Bengals first drive where Dalton throws a 57 yard catch and run touchdown to John Ross. The Bengals from here would flatline the Bills on both sides of the ball and led 20-0 at the half on a day that bills fans hoped would be a promising one for Josh Allen ended up being a complete nightmare. Josh Allen would be taken out the game after a reported head injury. Medics would later clear him to return but he never did. So Allen would finish the day 6 of 12 and 34 yards passing. The offensive line was absolutely horrible. We saw the offensive line coach rotating players in the first quarter which is a terrible sign for bills fans. John Miller was benched due to his inability to block and stay set before the snap which hurt a lot of the bills drives. Honestly the best two lineman on the bills team as of are Ryan Groy and Dion Dawkins. On the bright side, Marcus Murphy was again a highlight player as he ran the ball very well against Cincinnati as he chalked up 58 yards on 11 carries. The bills will most likely appoint him to be the third running back on the bills roster for the regular season. Logan Thomas also had a good day in which he was targeted 4 times and he caught 4 passes for 55 yards. Charles Clay and Nick O’Leary struggled in this game to produce. The defensive secondary also struggled as they allowed receivers to catch what they wanted with no recourse. They had no answer for Dalton who went 11-16 180 yards and 2 touchdowns. I will say I was very impressed with the run defense though. Edmunds looked better than last week as the Bills held the Bengals to 68 yards rushing on 27 carries. This Thursday, the Bills will have their final preseason game against the Chicago Bears. The current 90 man roster will be cut to 53 by 4pm on Saturday afternoon. Who will start at the quarterback position come week one of the regular season? Which rookies players do you think deserve a roster spot on the Bills team?

Buffalo Bisons News

The Buffalo Bisons have made better strides to win games since the last Rise Up Right article was written. The Herd since August 15th have compiled 7-5 record as Vlad Guerrero and Danny Jansen have lit up the opposing pitchers in their games played this season. Unfortunately, the Herd will not make the playoffs this season but will look to make moves to do so next season. I would like to take the time out to thank the Buffalo Bisons organization for giving me the great opportunity to cover the games this season as it has been a great and wonderful experience. They have a great organization who are about the people who not only attend the games but also have a caring spirit for those who work for them as well.
