Black Buffalo

AMIDST THE SNOW AND COLD

CLIMATE

THERE IS A WARMTH HERE

THERE IS A LOVE

THAT ONLY BLACK PEOPLE CAN BASK IN

THERE IS A COMING TOGETHER OF KINDRED SPIRITS

TO MAKE THE SUN SHINE

EVEN ON A SNOWY GREY DAY

CALL IT KWANZAA

CALL IT THE MAAFA

CALL IT SANKOFA

CALL IT JUNETEENTH

BLACK FOLKS IN BUFFALO

ARE IN AFRICA ALL YEAR ROUND

MARCUS AND HARRIET

STILL LIVE THERE AND CELEBRATE THEIR LOVE

FOR FREEDOM

HERE IN BUFFALO

THERE IS SPACE

TO BREATHE BLACK

AND A REASON TO KNOW

THAT WE ARE ROYAL

NO MATTER WHERE WE GO

LIKE IMHOTEP SAID

WE STILL WEAR THE CROWN

INSPITE OF WHAT OTHERS

MIGHT SAY

WE WILL FIND A WAY

TO MASTER THE DAY
